Environmental protection and product safety

As a company in the chemical industry, AKEMI is very conscious of the importance of environmental protection and product safety. AKEMI takes this responsibility into consideration already at the development and production processes.

Environmentally friendly resources

For this reason, when selecting raw materials, we take particular care to use those which are as environmentally-friendly as possible and test whether they are approved for a worldwide sale. The packaging of the products is made out of ecologically-compatible materials such as polyethylene or tin plate.

Product safety

AKEMI products meet all legal requirements with regard to health protection, work safety and labelling. In our safety data sheets we indicate – besides the information required by law (e.g. name of material, first-aid measures in case of accidents, notes for storage) – in addition the application of appropriate protection equipment (e.g. glasses, gloves) when using our products.

Instruction by GISCODES

Our AKEPOX®-adhesives are also classified according to the so-called GISCODES of the Deutsche Berufsgenossenschaft der Bauwirtschaft (Accident Prevention and Insurance Association of the German Building Industry). In this way, instructions can easily be obtained at the website of the Berufsgenossenschaft just by means of the GISCODE.

EPD (Environmental Product Declaration)

An EPD (Environmental Product Declaration) provides quantified environmental information about the life cycle of a product. It is based on independently verified data from the life cycle assessment, life cycle inventory and functional and technical properties of a product in accordance with the ISO 14025 and EN 15804 standards.

EPDs are an important basis for sustainability assessments of buildings, are internationally recognised and are important cornerstones in the building certification systems of DGNB (German Sustainable Building Council), BNB (Assessment System for Sustainable Building), BREEAM (Building Research Establishment Environmental Assessment Methodology) and LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design). They are also important for integral planning for architects and specialist planners right from the design phase.

For safe handling of PUR adhesives

For handling certain products containing diisocyanates in the industrial and commercial sector, a mandatory training was determined as a part of the REACH Regulation. The training should be completed by August 24th, 2023.
